A photo stays on your phone, or at best in a frame that eventually stops catching your eye. A rug gets walked on, touched, lived with — it's in the living room every single day. From photo to rug: how it's made
We want to be honest about this from the start: this is not a photo printed onto fabric. It's a hand-made reinterpretation using the tufting technique, where every part of the image gets translated into yarn, texture and rows of wool. The result is soft, plush, with real texture — a genuine textile piece, not a flat photographic finish.
The process starts when you send us a photo of your pet. From there, we put together a design sketch for you to approve before we start making anything — nothing goes into production without your sign-off on the final design. Does any photo work?
Not every photo gives the same result. For the final design to really look like your pet, well-lit photos work best — ones where the outline of the animal stands out clearly from the background, and where the pose or expression is the one you want to keep. If a photo is dark, blurry, or your pet blends too much into the background, we'll tell you upfront and help you either choose another one or set the right expectations for the result.
How the budget works
The cost of a custom rug depends on the size, how much detail the image has, and how many colours the design uses — so there's no single rate that fits every case. What we can give you is an estimate, which gets refined once we've confirmed the final design details with you.
As for timing: once the final design is confirmed, production usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. It's work done by hand, row by row, not an instant print — and that's exactly what makes it a one-of-a-kind piece.
