Most team building events fail for the same reason: they ask people to perform in front of each other rather than make something together. The best activities lower the stakes, give everyone an equal role, and produce a result that did not exist before. Escape rooms require a particular personality type to enjoy. Cooking classes can feel rushed and competitive. Cocktail-making evenings often become an excuse to drink rather than connect. A hands-on craft session works differently. The focus shifts to the work in front of you, conversations start without being prompted, and the people who are usually quiet in meetings are often the most confident makers in the room.<\/p>\n

A team building workshop at TUTU Studio<\/a> is built around tufting \u2014 the craft technique used to make handmade rugs. It is visual, tactile, and produces something each person keeps. That last point matters more than it might seem: it gives the session a permanence that a drinks round or a certificate does not.<\/p>\n

What happens during a tufting team building session?<\/h2>\n

Each participant arrives at the studio, chooses a design idea and a colour palette, and then works on their own piece using a tufting gun \u2014 a hand-held tool that pushes yarn through a canvas backing, loop by loop, building up texture and pattern. Our instructors walk every person through the process from the first stitch. Nobody is expected to arrive with any prior knowledge.<\/p>\n

The session runs for 2 to 3 hours at our studio at Carrer de la Diputaci\u00f3 341, Barcelona, in the heart of Eixample \u2014 accessible by metro and easy to reach from most of the city centre. Each person leaves at the end of the session with a piece in progress. The finished piece is ready to collect from the studio 14 to 20 days later, once it has been trimmed and the backing attached.<\/p>\n
